Privacy Policy
This policy explains how Open edX Detector handles information. The short version: the extension runs locally in your browser and does not collect, sell, transmit, or persistently store personal data.

Open edX Detector checks webpages for this meta tag:
<meta name="openedx-release-line" content="...">.
When the tag is present, the extension updates the toolbar icon and
shows the detected release line in the popup.
Information the Extension Reads
To perform detection, the extension reads page metadata in the browser tab where its content script is running. It may also read the current tab URL or hostname so the popup can show the current domain.
The extension is not designed to read account details, names, email addresses, passwords, payment information, form inputs, messages, or other personal content from websites.
Data Collection and Sharing
Open edX Detector does not collect personal data. It does not sell data, share data with third parties, use analytics, create user profiles, or send browsing data to an external server.
Data Storage
Detection results are kept only in temporary extension memory for the current browser tabs. This lets the toolbar icon and popup show the latest status for the active tab.
Open edX Detector does not use persistent extension storage for user settings or browsing history.
Permissions
The extension requests these permissions:

<all_urls>host access: needed to check any webpage for the Open edX release-line meta tag. -
tabs: used to identify the active tab and show the current domain and detection status in the popup. -
activeTab: used for access related to the active browser tab.
Cookies and Tracking
Open edX Detector does not set cookies, use tracking pixels, fingerprint users, or include advertising or analytics scripts.
Third-Party Services
The extension does not communicate with third-party services. Browser stores such as the Chrome Web Store may process installation or usage information under their own policies.
Changes to This Policy
If this policy changes, the updated version will be published in this repository and linked from the browser store listing where required.
